false flag is the gratest posibility, because maybe they wanted US involvement in the 7 days (or whatever) war, remember that for a democratic country intervention has to be solt to the people some way or another, mybe it was even to convince people that the ocupation in palestina was fair (everything in politics is emotional, not logic), so US could support the state of isrrel as a country.
