Its legal for us too. I have two 2year old Barred Rocks and two Easter Eggers. My neighboors don't like them, but tolerate them.

It is legal to keep a few chickens in my city. Both side of my neighbour know about these birds, and I don't think anyone complained. They are very quiet even in the daytime.
I usually clean the fenced area every few days. You won't smell the chicken poop if it is covered by dust.
