In this video you can see the Country Living 2010 House of the Year home from day one in the factory to day twenty when the home is being set on site in NYC. The house is currently being transported to Crystal Springs in Hardyston, NJ.
Modular homes are comprised of several different boxes, or modules, that are individually manufactured and transported on-site where they are assembled into a cohesive structure. Modular homes must adhere to, and in most cases exceed, the same building codes as traditional site-built homes
The components of a modular home are built in an environmentally-controlled factory setting where consistent and well-trained craftspeople perform highly specialized functions. Quality control is monitored at every station in the production line. During transport, the modules essentially withstand the equivalent of a Category 1 hurricane while driving down the highway.
