Part 3: Installing the 3.1 Kickstart ROMs and connecting the Floppy Drive.

In this video I replace the 3.0 Kickstart ROMs with the 3.1 Kickstart ROMs.

I also connect the Floppy Disk drive to the case.

  • Remove upper shield before extracting the roms. Extraction angle is dangerous...

  • @alangr1980 Thanks for the heads up, yes you are right. I guess I should have done that really, I was just being a bit lazy lol.

  • Good video, but you should have put on the ESD-wristband before touching any of the electronics.

btw. You must ground the tools also. Your wristband doesn't ground through the plastic handle you now. At least put them against the metal shielding before touching the ROM's.

I like to ground myself by touching the nearest outlet or the sink and put the wristband on immediately afterwards.

My tip is to follow the ESD-rules by the book or you get in trouble. :)

  • @HQsound Thanks for your comment and many thanks for the tips within your comment. I really appreciate your advice and considering I went to college to do an electronics course I should have known better but it was late when I made this video and I was tired so I guess I missed these very important steps. I will bear these in mind for the future. Thanks again. ^_^

  • Lol, Dual Bios!

  • @Retrosofer Wow you are a braver man that I. I would have been worried about damaging the ROMs but I guess as long as you are careful it should be fine. I got the hookset originally for my old Xbox 360 with had the RROD You need these tools to prise of the X-Clamps.

  • I ended up just useing a knife in the end to remove the roms because i found it better.
