Great exchange between Polly Toynbee, Guardian columnist, and Jonathan Isaby of the Tax Payers' Alliance:

"...and this is going to spark something much more than you quite realise."

  • that guys is pure twat

  • what a truly ridiculous comment. what good does polly do exactly? and how am i supposed to mirror this, given that i am not in the position of a highly paid journalist with bbc history? and why should i have to join you in your mindless bashing of the capitalist system before respecting me. i didnt realise the average person was no longer allowed to have an opinion, or at least it seems, one not tied to the mainstream. that comment was slightly embarassing actually.

  • @strangelittlebeing again in an economic situation that is not 'equalty' that is sameness. in such a situation the more productive people are discriminated against because they're dragged down to the level of others. if this can be shown (and it can) then there is nothing wrong with saying that one person is less than another, at least economically. capitalism isnt perfect and im certainly not some free market dogmatist. but im afraid its the best we have

  • @hammerandclaw Also, not sure why you blame youth unemployment on 'mass immigration' , the problem is a lot more than just 'these foreigners are better qualified than us and are stealing our jobs!'. And until I see you on youtube yelling some fat-cat-feeding suit into the ground, or better yet, taking action to 'support grammar schools', little of what you have to say can be respected. Polly's doing a fat lot more than you, yet you talk about practising what you prach.

  • @hammerandclaw Equality in the sense of what we earn and where our money goes. Capitalism is a good idea, but has been proven time and again to be disastrous to big communities ending with (as we are seeing a lot of today) corruption at the top of the financial foodchain. People are given unequal situations to deal with, yes. But to write off person A as worth less than person B brings elitism into the mix, and do I have to list the many of examples of how damaging that can be?

  • @strangelittlebeing equality in what sense? people are unequal. just think about it. its part of life. to have an society with equality of outcome would be in its essence unequal as it hampers those who are better than others. polly has no real interest in helping the poor otherwise she would support grammar schools, and would oppose mass immigration which has led to such high youth unemployment. but she doesnt. this is not bitterness on my part, as you crudely put it.
