Otis campbell is played by Hal Smith. Hal Smith did the voice of John Avery Whittaker on the Family radio show Adventures in Odyssey. He passed away in 1994 from a heart attack.
Hal Smith Rocks! any one who whants to see him do real hard core dramatic acting should listen to the Adventures in Odessy episode, "The Mortal Coil", prepare yourself, your head may explode from sheer awsomeness!!!!
Hal Smith and Don Knotts were an incredible team. They could easily switch from straight man to comic, often times in the same scene. One think both Don and Hal had in common was an amazing talent for getting their faces to tell a story. Creating the right facial expression, then getting it to translate properly in the camera lens is more difficult than many people realize. RIP Don and Hal!! the Heavens are laughing!!
