@howtostretch Understood Doc. Thank you very much for your advice and videos, its helping me to navigate myself out of a labyrinth of muscle/join pain I've been dealing with for so long.

@howtostretch I'm having this same issue as well, and these stretches you recommend really make a difference. Though whenever I get into butterfly, my right hip joint always pops when I lean forward into the stretch, and then pops back to how it use to be when I come back up. My right hip generally feels out of alignment most of the time, and my right leg usually seems to be shorter than my left because of this. What can I do to fix this?

Although I can get into the lotus position, I can only hold it for about 5 minutes, as I am not comfortable (yet). I have only just achieved the lotus this last few weeks, so I guess I will just have to keep working at it. Hopefully one day I will feel at ease whilst sitting in it, but I appear to have reached a stage where I am not making anymore progress. Anyone with any tips, please send them to me. Cheers.
Excellent video by the way!

I hardly ever comment, but just had to for this video. Very good job of explaining barriers to the lotus, barriers especially relevant to me and others, I'm sure. Great stuff.
I cannot/will not diagnose people over the net, but in general, a shorter leg not due to a birth defect or break is caused by a misaligned pelvis. This is the type of condition I correct all day in my office as a chiropractor. That said, it is often caused by a tight muscles, so if stretching does not get to the problem, seek help. Btw, the stretch that is the hardest to do is the one that you need to do most.

Yes, it does sound Like tight muscles. The muscles that cause the back to curve as you describe are the psoas muscles. Try doing the butterfly, then lying down on your back in that position, I bet the knees come up. Get the back to flatten, and then relax/work the knees down. That should help. Also, working on center splits can help, as you sit on ground, and stretch forward, you are also stretching the psoas( after you stretch all the other muscles that are tighter first)
