This is certainly a lip-sync of the single "The Wear And The Tear On My Mind" which was from Domenic Troiano's (post-Bush / pre-James Gang)1972 solo album on Mercury. It was a minor hit on CKLW Windsor. This may have been a clip from a CBC show called Maple Music which ran circa '72-'73. I have this album & listen to it often. Thanks for posting.

The show was called " Rollin on the River" hosted by Kenny Rogers and the First Edition.. 1972 sounds about right

I opened up for the James Gang in 1973 with 15,000 there and nobody left early because Joe Walsh wasn't there. But I didn't envy Dom being put in an awkward situation as being a replacement for Joe when he left.Joe was James Gang and everybody knew that. In his own right Dom was great too.

Funk 49...now THAT'S how a Telecaster is supposed to sound. I always hated Troiano's thin, reedy tone, and could never fathom how The James Gang thought he was suitable for the band.

Dom Troiano's recording studio was sold last summer, and his enormous tape archive (several hundred reels) is now in safe storage. I've been given the task of cataloguing it all. There are some real gems in there, including solo album, Mandala and Bush material. Haven't come across any James Gang stuff so far, but you never know.

@LivewireRemote: My mom was one of those L.A. fans of Mandala back in early '67 when she saw one of their shows. I grew up listening to her original 45 of "Give And Take" and we've got two original Mandala "Member Of The Soul Crusade" buttons. They were a great band and an "Anthology" should be released on CD containing everything the band did!

I only saw Dom play with the gang once. He sounded and played great from what I remember but he never got the crowd fired up. Roy tried his best, but the fierce loyalty fans had to the Walsh music got in the way. The 2 albums they made had 2 great song(imo). Passin'Through's "Had Enough" and Srtaight Shooter's "I'll Tell You Why"(co-writ by Dale). I just want to say that I like the "Bang" album best.

I am glad some people like this guy but when he replaced Joe in the James Gang in '72, a concert promoter in Detroit failed to mention this when the James Gang played at the brand new Pine Knob Music Theatre (now Verizon). As soon as he walked on the stage, the crowd started screaming "Where's Joe?". The James Gang was huge in Detroit and the crowd was not in the mood for a poseur. A riot ensued and it was a short night for the "new James Gang".
