A _VERY_ simplistic breakdown of the two professions. I began as a chemical engineer and ended as a chemist.

  • Engineers are overwhelmingly conservative and scientist overwhelmingly liberal. There are various theories on why that is but for whatever reason it works out that way.

  • @WilliamPbrane I actually disagree with you. It might seem that way, but I've never worked for or met a non-conservative scientist. The reason for that is probably because I've worked for private companies and corporations, so the obvious bias to keep business going would be a lean toward the right. Engineers would be primarily right winged because they are practically all employed in industry.

  • both are excellent choices, whatever floats your boat.

  • SCIENTIST!

  • Great explanation for anyone trying to decide between the two fields. I'm a chemical (process) engineer in industry and really enjoy it but I've always thought research would be a fun challenge.

  • im both chemist and engineer, I find it's a good guideline

  • I'm an engineer and I don't know what I am these days.......

  • Some data,
