Slavoj Zizek talk at Birkbeck is interrupted by a mobile phone and instead of smashing the phone to pieces(as I would have done), brilliantly improvises in his own inimitable way. God bless you.

  • Transcription, part 1

American president, Nixon or whoever, doesn't matter, visits Israel. And sees there, on the prime minister's table, apart from the usual phones, a blue phone. "What is this blue phone?" They tell him it's a phone to call God. Then, Clinton I think it was, returns furiously to USA, they have it, why can't I have it. And he orders CIA, or FBI, that they deliver the phone.

  • Transcription, Part 2

Then he calls God, but looks at the bill. It looks horrible. A million dollar per minute. He furiously calls Israel, "we're giving you all this money and you're spending it on this?!". And you know the Israeli answer? For us Jews, it is a local call.

  • Genious!!! And so on and so on....

  • hahahaha....it's so smart funny joke

  • This guy should have lived in 1918's Russia... Maybe then Stalin would have been prevented from seizing power.

  • does this guy do blow?

  • @rosmarinusofficialis Same here. I also thought he might be coked out of his mind. He's obviously brilliant but very distracting to watch or listen to.

  • Priceless...This is great! For us Jews, it's a local call... LOL! Thanks pixelator30 for the translation. I'll have to remember this joke.

  • @constablecomfortable I agree that the system needs change... but it doesnt fix that I am 29 and have a bad back.

Ive heard stories of professors actually smashing phones of students, and if it happened to me. I cant guarantee that I wouldnt lash out.

First I would demand that they buy me a new phone. If they refused, THEN I would take revenge.

Minimum wage isnt the only problem, but we need a maximum wage too. High salaries drive prices up. The problem is too complex for 500 characters.

  • @havabighed Sorry you took offence, it was meant as a joke, English sense of humour strikes again. But you raised an interesting point. You asked me if I knew how much people get paid to make phones and what if the guy was on minimum wage.

I ask YOU, do you know WHY people get paid peanuts to make this stuff and WHY a person has to work in a 'hard-labour' job for minimum wage? Listen to Zizek a bit more, read Das Kapital and come back with the right questions. Smash the system, not my face.

And I would have smashed your face in if you smashed my property.

Do you know how little those people get paid to make this technology?

And how do you know I wasnt working a hard-labor minimum wage job to buy it?

like I said... I would have smashed your face in if you smashed my property.
