Big Sunday

Large Swells at Lyall Bay Beach in Wellington caused by a depression east of the North Island. This happened on 19the July 2009. It's called Big Sunday because they are big waves that happened on a Sunday. It's like Big Wednesday, if you remember Lyall Bay at Waitangai Day in 2002 then you will know what I mean.

i remember this particular sunday apart from all the rest

I've surfed there a few times in the past a bit of a rush.When it was bigger I had to get to it from the other side of the bay .

Yeah, we went to Tora the next day. Was real nice, got some good video footage too.

bigger sunday 12/10/09 massive offshores allday

I went out that day, big but messy as it was onshore until quite late in the day. We saw a guy & his kid get totally soaked by a wave at the end of runway, hilarious!
