Take a tour of the visual arts at the Putney School with NiRey as your guide. Step inside the Arts Building, where painting, drawing, jewelry making, blacksmithing, print making and sculpture classes take place. Then stop in to the pottery studio and hear Marley's take on ceramics at Putney. Anu, a student from Hawaii, gives her take on the variety of classes available.
The arts are celebrated at The Putney School. There is almost never a bare wall, or a day gone by without some form of artistic expression. Experience in the arts is central to a Putney education. We take the arts seriously while simultaneously supporting a spirit of playful discovery. We remind students that their personal expression is found within themselves, their experience, and abilities. We challenge students to inquire deeply and take creative risks that value process as well as product. We encourage the development and sensitivity of a student's perception, increased self-awareness, and a more extensive, intimate, and enduring emotional response to the world around them.
