A Song For Jack is a dark story that looks at the world from the eyes of a troubled young man. Jack was a shy and seemingly innocent boy. His only desire was to have a radio, but his strict parents would not let that happen. They tried to protect him from all of the monsters in the world, but they failed to see the monster in their own son (2005).
I co-directed "A Song For Jack" with Joseph Cannon (Jack). He wrote and handled the locations where as I shot and edited the final piece. I also wrote two scenes of the film.
The biggest lesson I learned on this film is that a script is important. Joseph wrote the entire film on loose leaf paper and the scenes I wrote were typed in a non-script format. What's more is that the script wasn't technically finished until the last day of production. The serious lack of pre-production is what led this film to ultimately be presented in an experimental fashion.
