  • Your Thumb!!! Surprise to see the digit so close to the miter saw. Should I be?

  • @jameschesnut The vertical support posts aren't for the rear (although it seems like that at first); once the structure is built, he takes it off the wall and uses it as the front structure of the shelving.

He's using the headers that are already installed as a guide to help build the front frame. Expert Village not numbering vids makes things that much more confusing.

It's a very clever & easy way to get everything perfectly aligned. Front and back are pretty much the exact height.

  • Very informative video but I think I would rather just get a kit or something to do it with that way it looks a little better and more polished... I just don't want to hurt the resale value of my house. I found some nice kits at diygarageshelf for pretty cheap that just mount directly to the studs and stuff

  • Great video! Very informative, I built these shelves in my new house and they came out great!

  • Your monotone voice makes me want to kill myself.

  • We know you're John. It isn't important! We don't need to know your bloody name.

  • @teyzar good reply.

  • @Fabuladico it's a video illusion. Look again with clear eyes.

  • @blt888888 it's actually about 2 inches away. it's the perspective squashing the 45 degree angle. Just a video anomaly. if you look at the Flat steel part, you can see the distance his thumb really is, not the top of the wood.

  • @jameschesnut xtra stability and weight distro. Basics man. It might be too much for some, but for some that are storing hundreds of pounds on each level, it's essential.

  • why are these all 1:20min vids? Even 3 years ago you could upload 10 minute videos. My only complaint.

  • @Sakalitaka what is wrong with you? I have been into carptentry for years and it's always good to keep an open mind because there are so many variables. I did learn something from this video and I was annoyed too for some aspects, but you are just being rude. Let's see your construction vids.
