@salamander162A If they attacked the ship to "leave no witnesses" to an attack on Egypt, then why did they only kill 32 men and let the ship go? The survivors and families of the dead were all paid restitution. Israel paid out over $14 Million to the U.S. families and victims as well as to the Gov't for the ship damage.

USS Liberty was witness to Israel's treacherous attack on Egypt at the six day War 1967. that is why the Israeli's decided to take out the ship and leave no witnesses. They knew very well it was an American ship.
