No, they said there should be other subs arround to take over in case they dont launch.. and Hunter says this again to the WEPS officer later when convincing him to not release the last trigger. But as the captain sais "as captain i have to consider than our other subs might been sunk by other Akulas" as there was other 3 rebel Akulas arround.. That was Ramsey's mistake , but from a certain point of view he might been right.. but he got too anal about going one side.. a radical posture.
