Just after returning from their recent trip to the Middle East, the Elders asked their supporters around the world to send in their questions about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Here, Mary Robinson responds to a comment from Davidi Hermelin, a young member of the Likud party in Israel whom the Elders met on their recent visit. He does not think that the Elders' statements on Jerusalem adequately consider Israeli mainstream opinion.

  • If someone realy want peace he wouldn't ask us for something we can't give up. In other words, people who want to divide it as a condition for peace - they are trampling it. The Jewish people will never give up Jerusalem even if the whole world will jump. You can get angry, but this is the starting point of any discussion on the subject. Now you decide what you prefer, under the assumption that this position will not change; and Too bad, that also the "Elders" choose to be an obstacle for peace

  • I'm sorry to say that I'm in shoke of your ignorants in the history of Jerusalem. You should go and search the koran to understand that Jerusalem never was in any importans to the muslems what so ever!!

even in the koran it's officialy writen black on white, that Jerusalem belongs to the juwis people. not les, bat Muhamad himself wrote that the muslems must incorig and to rush Jews to go back and seteled down in Jerusalem.

there was never palestinan cantry in the eara of Israel or Jordan.
