As for the imprisonment of former SV regime supporters-well, I agree that it's unfortunate, but it's no worse than what you did under the Phoenix program and the other S&D programs before it. Except your programs tended to involve innocent civilians who supported you, whereas their's didn't.

War may not be pretty, but the one you waged was a damned sight uglier than the one they did. And it shows. Why do you think NV civilians backed the war to the end when your public support crumbled?

My point American interference in Vietnam which spilled over into Cambodia and destabilised the regime there allowed Pol Pot to take over Cambodia. If it weren't for US intervention NV would have conquered South Vietnam much, much, much faster, and Pol Pot would've never come to power= lower war casualties in Vietnam + no ethnic cleansing in Cambodia.
