Jon won the Semi-auto Division of the 2009 AZ State Sub-Gun Championships (with a Kel-Tec Sub2000!) and was on a good pace for the 2010 match until a Negligent Discharge ended his day early. It seems though his trigger finger was well out of the trigger guard during movement, his mangled middle finger pushed part of his sling against the trigger and discharged the weapon over the back berm. Jon was kind enough to give me permission to post this as an object lesson in gun safety. It was his first Disqualification in two decades of competition.

  • What kind of carbine was he shooting?

  • @bulldogger71 I think it was American Spirit Arms.

  • He had a great run going until the ND. I applaud you both for posting it so it can act as a learning tool for others. Race car drivers crash into walls, shooters sometimes ND. It happens.

  • @MiniUziDotCom I had my first and only (knock on wood) DQ at the same match last year. I've seen Rob Leatham DQ. I've shot in the same match that Jerry Miculek DQ'd. Seeing them do it doesn't make light of us mere mortals doing it, because our fun ends early, just like theirs.

  • Applause for posting this and showing the N.D., some would be hesitant to because of the potential for negative feedback by idiots. Fact is, everyone makes mistakes, and seeing this happen may make others more aware of just how easily something like that can happen. This is why safety must be paramount

  • That sucks

  • ND's can be a real bitch
