"The Breatharians" - Episode 7, Part 1
Four thirty-something New Yorkers with various eating disorders lean on one another for support in this dark and poignant comedy that chronicles their romantic and personal lives. Sam is a neurotic commitment-phobic stock broker recovering from compulsive overeating; Adam is a bulimic NYPD cop; Dan, who works as a writer, is an overweight compulsive-eater; and Billie is an anorexic/bulimic and aspiring singer/songwriter

Those last two scenes are heart wrenching. I can so relate to both of those characters. The loneliness and denial of Adam, and the desperation and helplessness of Dan.
The people who raised an uproar about this show didn't see past the headline. This show has some awesome potential.

If anything I think this show showed how much an ED can mess with your live plus some people are in recovery in this show!

How can people say that this show made light of eating disorders? This is one of the only accounts of EDs I've ever seen that has taken them seriously enough and treated them as the life-threatening disorders that they are. AND it shows that anyone can have one...not just 13 year old girls.

I agree. The guy who played Same wrote and directed it, as well as starring in, suffered from and ED himself. So I doubt he would take it lightly.
