For the past 10 years music producers, beat-makers, sound designers, and game composers have made Reason's highly creative environment a mainstay of their toolbox. All the while Reason has become a mainstay of the education process as well.

To see how Propellerhead Software's Reason 5, Record 1.5, and Recycle are being taught in the classroom, we visited some top institutions around the world. These educators let us into their classrooms and studios to discuss how they're leveraging the power of the Reason rack to teach not only in-the-box desktop audio production, but hardware-based studio production and even studio wiring/design as well.

  • This isn't just a promotional thing, seriously from just messing about and watching tutorials I learnt so much about synths and things. I love how it has so many options to create your own sound without having to worry about buying plugins and virtual instruments and even if you want them you can just rewire its so convenient. To be honest I'm ashamed to say I used a pirated copy but I stopped and I'm hoping to buy a copy one day, I wish you guy's could remove the 20min limit from demo though.

  • @Tand0oriCh1cken The new Reason 6 Demo mode has removed the 20 minute limit. In the new version you can run in demo mode, open any song in demo format, create new songs and save them. The only think you can't do in demo mode is open a song you've started before. For a demo version, it offers you a lot of flexibility to try out the program and really dig in deep... even saving your work if you create something you want to continue with the full version later. Thanks!

  • This video is getting me so excited! How do scandinavians get on these courses?

  • @aIex187 Each school has info on their websites which I'm sure will explain. LIPA, for example, even does auditions and recruiting in scandinavia from time to time. I know people from Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Iceland who have all come from there. I spoke to a danish student at Dubspot who was attending when I visited too.

  • iS this like a college

  • @DJRockstarbaby It's 4 different schools. Some are universities that give you a degree. Others are programs that are shorter than 4 years but train you just as intensely.

  • that was beautiful :(

  • @wendileona LB has a very long and distinguished list of alumni. Jazz players, songwriters, mastering engineers... just about anything you can name - they've got someone distinguished working in the biz. George's point in the video was more about how LBCC served a function in the greater LB community at a time when that very pivotal music scene was developing. His program served as a opportunity for these artists to get studio time when it wasn't easy to come by.
