Place a small flame (candle size) underneath the sugar, this will make it burn much, much better. The flames are hydrogen burning, so it is extremely hot and won't leave and residue on the cookware (except for carbon where the sugar was kept)

Hiram, try char cloth and grind it up and mix with the sugar. Also, have you set a Frito or Dorito on fire? Makes great firestarter!

You said that you didn't think the sugar would work in this state. What state are you in? Do you think it would work in Florida?

I think it was a state of confusion.That's a good question about Florida. I would like to think so since I was born there (in Key West that is). LOL
