Humbert is a miserable desperate man for folling in love with an ideal rather than a person. He loves something that he can never reach.

Miserable perhaps, but is someone desperate for loving an ideal?

From what I remember from the movie, Lolita was no angel, actually she might have had some previous experience prior to meeting Mr.Humbert like you said. But still, Humbert as a person with more life experience is also to blame, Hello? this is a minor...no matter how precocious she might be, it's him who's bound to end up in jail if caught red-handed.

Yes, I am aware of what would happen to Humbert if caught. I believe that both Humbert and Dolores are to blame, equally. I am not sure if you had read the book, but Humbert said "I had thought that months, perhaps years, would elapse before I dared to reveal myself to Dolores Haze; but by six she was wide awake and by six fifteen we were technically lovers. I am going to tell you something very strange: it was she who seduced me.'

Nope, I haven't read the book. Your quote from the book just confirms Lolita was certainly well instructed in the facts of life, as Prof Zempf (is that how you spell it?) put it....
