@TheSabazios Early Christians had no fear of dieing as a martyr in defense of the Eucharist.
Saint Ignatius (3rd Bishop after Peter) wrote before being put to death for not submitting to Pagan rule "Permit me to imitate my suffering God ... I am God's wheat and I shall be ground by the teeth of beasts, that I may become the pure bread of Christ."
How good it is that we Christians may consume the flesh of the Creator. We as lesser beings may consume a greater being every time we attend mass.
Nero put Christian to death in 60 AD under the charge of cannibalism. Based on their testimony that they gather together to worship their Christ and eat his flesh and drink his blood at mass. Nero twisted the description of the Eucharist to be a brutal devil and kill Christians. He tortured them and asked well is it bread or is it your God? They said "No, it truly is the flesh of Christ!"
Early Christian were right and so was Saint John. If Jesus meant it figuratively he said so.
