I always find it interesting to hear Lex Luger speak.. Often potrayed as a complete basket case and failure, it's nice to hear the his side of the business and views on different moments. Lex should be given a bit more respect for the impact he had on wrestling world, especially from a few critics and past wrestlers. Nice little snippet from CSR, keep them coming WZ!

i hate how wwe paint luger as a failure now. The guy had a successful career but just because it was mostly in WCW, they paint him in as the failed successor to Hogan. I guess it's true whoever wins the war gets to write the history.

I knew he worked without a contract, but I'm shocked to discover how long he worked without one. That's Vince McMahon's fault. If he wanted Luger that badly, where was the new contract in 1995?

i know vince and wwf were pissed about this, but they have nobody to blame but themselves for not giving luger a new contract.vince supposedly the great businessman made a really stupid business decision.

First of all, I wasn't even talking about Austin or Rock. Secondly, there are so many variables you can use to determine who was bigger. If you're going to go by merchandising of course Austin was bigger because his era was when merchandising became its most marketable. WWF wasn't selling t-shirts period in the 80's. If you're going by ratings, 37 million people watched Hogan on SNME, Austin never did that kind of number so it all depends on what you're going by.

I think he meant Hogan was overrated in the sense of in-ring ability, which is true Hogan was never a great ring technician but he didn't need to be. As far as Luger goes, I think people forget just how over he was in the Summer of '93 and I always felt it was a big mistake on Vince's part not to put the belt on him at SummerSlam '93. Of course he wasn't Hogan, nobody could be, but he was definitely over enough.

Hogan is not overrated. There is an element of truth to any good wrestler's character...and Hogan was able to portray a superhero who told people to say prayers and eat their vitamins, and not only did they not laugh at it, they BELIEVED IT and rooted for him. Every other person that they tried to make a top-level babyface failed. I also can't think of any other person in the decades I've watched who could do it, except possibly Sting, and even he couldn't cut promos half as well as Hogan.
