Into the Eagle's Nest!

Hernando County, Florida - It's often called the Mount Everest of cave diving and it attracts people from around the world.

But Eagle's Nest, located in the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area, is also one of the most dangerous caves to dive. In fact, since 1981, at least six people have died while diving at Eagle's Nest.

So, what draws people to this Hernando County attraction?

With the help of underwater videographer Becky Kagan Schott and Liquid Productions, 10 News takes you to a place rarely ever seen.

"When you're diving into caves, you're diving into nature's time capsule," cave explorer Brett Hemphill told 10 News.

"I do feel like a modern day explorer," Kagan Schott said of diving at Eagle's Nest.

Discovered in the 1960s, Eagle's Nest stretches for thousands of feet but only has one entrance. It features a number of chambers or rooms with names like the Pit, the Ballroom and the Lockwood Tunnel. Divers say there are times when the water inside Eagle's Nest is as clear as air.
