We often look at how we can groom and maintain that lovely horse with that beautiful luster to their skin and coat. We always know that the basics to begin with would be good grooming. When we get into grooming, we want to keep a grooming caddy or some way to carry things and we like to have an assortment of brushes that we use to maintain that good coat. We start with a rubber curry comb. That's one of my favorites. If needed, if they're particularly dirty, we could go to this style which is a little more aggressive in removing that dirt and hair that we're trying to bring up in the beginning. We want a variety of what we call body brushes, both stiff and soft. We want mane and tail combs, and I like to use the human variety. They often work very well. We'd like to have hoof picks... always important that we care for the hoof of the horse and we have a number of varieties that we can use in the hoof pick. Some of them have brushes for the exterior and or loose debris of the horses hoof. After we've ensured that we have adequate grooming supplies in the way of brushes, the most important part of our grooming, then we can go to products that we might like to buy to maintain their coats in using the actual product itself. No Doubt, a shampoo and a conditioner made for horses might be one that we like to use to start off with a good bath. You can bathe a horse much like you would wash your car. Suds it up, rinse it of and put a shiny conditioner on it. Some of them are revitalizing shampoos and they may have even coat conditioners, highlighters, things to enhance the color of your horse. When we're all finished with that, there's no doubt we might like to put a little bit of shine on the horse if we're in a competitive arena where the shiny glow of that horse is going to help set us apart from others. Detanglers are common. If your horse has a lot of tangles in their mane and tail, then there are products that'll help take those knots out as well as after we've gone through all of that, there's no doubt the final polish might include a little spray of fly spray. Flies and horses have been living together for years and year, but certainly if we're trail riding or in a competitive arena we may wish to eradicate those flies so that we don't have to have us and the horse bothered by them. That should bring us to just about anything we might need in keeping our horses in tip top shape. You can also had hoof oils to their hoofs as a final touch as well.
