Here's volume two of my showcase! If you haven't already seen volume one, go here first:

So anime, it's all giant robots, busty schoolgirls with huge eyes and tentacle monsters right? The purpose of these videos are to show that this is hardly the case, by showcasing short clips from fifty-three different anime that visually portray the varied art-styles, themes, settings, concepts and characters in Japanese animation (which is why I enjoy it! :)). I'm not trying to imply that ALL anime is as unique as as the ones I've included in these videos, but give credit where credit is due I say! This video is intended as a primer for those unfamiliar with Japanese animation beyond the popular culture depiction. Of course, if you're someone like me who loves unique and interesting animation, then these videos should give you a whole list that might interest you! Each video includes the title of the animation at the beginning, so you'll know where each clip is from.
The clips in these videos are in no particular order, so I strongly suggest watching all three volumes to get the full effect. There are certainly more unique anime than just the one's I've included here. I've had to skip a few (such as Makoto Shinkai's works and Barefoot Gen) because the clips I would need to take would be far too long for these videos.
Anyway, enjoy! And if you see something that interests you, I recommend you seek it out!

man, that first one was like something out of a merrie melody cartoon (the entire joke told visually) and god damn did it have to hurt.

I came this by way of your post on Escapist. As a fellow anime/manga fan, I'd like to thank you for undertaking such an endeavor. Considering that anime has been around in the west for decades, the continuing level of ignorance is almost astounding.

@ninjahermit You're quite welcome! I'd like to make a new version of this video with even more footage, but I bet YouTube will have issues with it again, despite it should be OK since I'm only using short clips with the intent of education. Does anyone know a way of getting around this problem? Like, can I contact YouTube with my intent so my video wouldn't automatically get flagged?

@nerdinthebackroom Kinda, but it's mostly a parody of Quentin Tarantino and his films (hence why this guy says "fucking" so much :P)
