Here is my M3 Nathan sounding train horns built from 4" PVC reducers and parts. This set can be built for about $45 minus the fancy nickle plated flair ends. The plans that I have for sale on eBay can be used to build this larger set also. These are built the same as the 3" size, only with the next size larger parts, If you close your eyes when I blast them you almost can't tell that these aren't the real thing.
good gosh! turning up the speakers was a BAD idea when you started getting closer. i had my headphones connected as i am at work. i had to turn them down. HOLY CRAP!!! great job!

In the booklet on ebay you have, do you mention how to hook up the air compressor to the horns? Meaning everything you mentioned in this video before you show the horns. Also how many compressors do you need to operate one of the horns made out of pvc pipe?

OH! And how do you tune them?

Dozer Boy, I was wondering if you could tell me what size the rest of the pipes were?
I'm making a PVC horn and want it to sound like a Nathan.

Dear Dozer Boy ,Do you have a dozer? What kind. You are very brilliant to buid these horns. But you just cant beat the real thing, an authentic M3. Heavy cast aluminum, with a history of being on a locomotive. The same goes for K horns an awsome K 3,K5 the real thing. I think you are brilliant to tune this thing to sound like an M3,its close but I am typing while you are blowing and its a little off, strange sounding. Keep on working hard work is what built this country.

@eric1978 & eg8ferio The best way to get them as loud as possible is to adjust the tube with the inner fitting that rests against the diaphram so you can barely get it to sound with max lung pressure. If you can make them sound easily with your lungs, they won't be as loud with higher pressure. Also the rear ring that clamps down on the diaphrams (the one with the screws going thru) has a lot to do with it. If its too tight or loose it will affect the sound. It just takes a little fine tuning
