This was a day hiking trip I undertook with and my partner Anne and two friends during a weekend in October 2010. We parked our car at the North Gate Lock by the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, about 1 mile north of Penkridge (grid ref. SJ936159), in Staffordshire, England, UK. First we hiked east towards Cannock Chase, then south through Teddesley Park until we hit a road. We then hiked south west via Pillaton until we reached the M6 motorway bridge and then hiked north along the canal.
We feel that his was a mild day hike along pretty much flat ground, along solid trails, farm segments, and a few country roads. A lot of the route was very clear as well as well marked. Having said that, there were some good path finding talents called for within woodland and also one somewhat bus road to contend with. We feel that it is an exceptional introduction to the Penkridge area and South Staffordshire. Penkridge is a marvellous location we recommend visiting. Hiking all around Penkridge provides you with some great views and photo opportunities. The distance of this day hiking trip was roughly 8.5 miles.
