http://foxeema.blogspot.com/ A rare 1968 CBS Television Network special designed to promote the network's fall schedule. Shows promoted include: "Mayberry R.F.D.", "Lancer", "The Good Guys", "Blondie" and "Hawaii Five-O". Out of these, "Blondie" was the biggest failure (lasting 13 episodes), while "Hawaii Five-O" was the most successful (lasting 284 episodes). Please forgive the VHS-transfer. This Promo-Special is presented here for historical value...

  • Well Mayberry R.F.D. was cancelled with the rest of the farm shows.

  • The worst shows on tv then beat 90% of the tv shows today.

  • @dandydonaldo I guess he had to get the taste out of his mouth by doing it for Felix and Oscar on THE ODD COUPLE, then Fred and Lamont on SANFORD & SON.

  • @paperboxcollages Mrs. Dithers was played by Jim Backus' real-life wife Henny.

  • @fromthesidelines I wonder if Andy had difficulty juggling those final appearances with his making the feature film ANGEL IN MY POCKET. His wife in that was played by Lee Meriwether, who was subsequently cast as his wife in THE NEW ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW (mid-season replacement for the his ill-suited HEADMASTER portrayal).

  • @fromthesidelines I don't think they had much of anything ready from DORIS DAY yet..she only found out her husband/manager Marty Melcher committed her to it after his death in early 1968. On top of this, the woman who had been the #1 box-office attraction just a few years before was now $500,000 in debt. Doing the show paid that off and funded a successful lawsuit against the people whom Melcher let put her money into bad investments.

  • Thanks for the memories! I loved a lot of these shows but had (thankfully) forgotten the TERRIBLE "The Good Guys". It was worse than "Blondie"---& THAT'S saying something.

  • Pamelyn Ferdin & Peter Robbins used to voice The Peanuts' specials. :)

  • Get a load of Pat Morita as the Japanese restaurant manager on Blondie!

  • i like Mayberry RFD and The Andy Griffith Show...
