I made this instead of making a PowerPoint presentation for a class. There is a lot of content missing that I covered when I actually presented to my class.
There is a pretty general consensus that the water war didn't result in better water conditions in the region, but what I discovered is that the Bolivian government was actually able to get full funding for the massive Misicuni Project that many point to as the crux the water war.
I think it is also important to point out that Bolivia declared clean water a human right, and encouraged the UN to do the same. In Sept 2010, the United Nations declared Clean Water and Sanitation a Human Right. This shift the way we find funding for water projects, since it should now be something that everyone has a right to for free.
I look forward to seeing how Cochabamba grows in the years to come as a result of their new found water...
