  • Anonimos, a tail push at the beginning of a turn is what most skiers do by default. It's often the only option their current skills provide. Usually, they do it with an aggressive rotation of the upper body. Job one is to acquire other options by expanding the skill base. Short turns, can be done by pushing the tails at the start of the turn, but they can be done without pushing too.

Developing skills, and expanding options,,, that's what VERSATILITY IN SKIING is all about.

  • Thanks for the positive comments folks, glad you found the video helpful. Camouflet, great sense of humor. :) Actually, in the big pockets I have my shot script, and a radio to keep in communication with my camera person.

  • "Lift inside ski" I've skied only once and that was what I did to prevent falling over my own ski!

  • Wow. Great video. Gonna be trying all of this stuff out this year. I may even pick up his DVD's. Thanks for the video, Sir.

  • I think I am tail push type skier when I try to control my speed, especially on steeper slope. I need to practice more on the round turn and control the speed through the turn, not at the beginning of the turn.

  • Just found this, Rick! Nice collection of ideas and drills.

Folks, if you like this, pick up his DVDs... You'll find all kinds of insights and drills in a building block approach to get you from wherever you are to exceptionally high-level skiing...

  • Fantastic video-I also thought it was from the 80s until he ripped out the carving-great tips and drills!

  • great video! rick schnellmann, you're a smart guy...

  • What a funny video, I thought at the beginning...

How it could happen that a guy in carving Salomon skis does like an old school grandpa?

But later I realised the sence of this GREAT skiing show ...

Thank you really much for your job - we can hardly find anything more usefull in one package !!!

  • super helpful format! the way they should be made!
