Yep, Dempsey is my number one sports idol, fit and trim. Even moreso after I had the displeasure of watching a BLOATED, DOUBLE CHINNED Chris Arreola claim on Friday Night Fights to be in the best shape of his life......Yucko. Is it just me or does it seem like a lot of the higher weights in most combat sports seem to have a hard time coming in under 20% body fat?

Dempsey was vicious,but he had a lot of class.you can go on and on about the various layers of jack,this guy easily trumped babe ruth in popularity during ruths' peak.Dempsey was the first fighter ever to be invited to the white house,and the first to make a million dollars[when ruth was making $80k/yr]

Dempsey is my favorite athlete of all time. They don't make them like that anymore. Most sports stars of modern times are basically creeps who cannot get over themselves. I read that when Dempsey was managing his restraurant in NYC, dummies used to try to knock him out, usually with a sucker punch. Well, you can guess how well that went over with the champ who started fighting in saloons at age 15.

@serena4 He was the most exciting no doubt about that!! If the fight went into later rounds tho he could not keep up that frantic pace that he had. He is one of the top 5 and it is hard to rate one over the other.

There is a Boxing Historian today who says such great things about Jack Dempsey. Some of you guys would have to hear him speak on the subject of DEMPSEY to believe what I say...
