IMCA Modifieds Main Event Canyon Speedway Park 7-10-2010

The IMCA Modified division twenty-five lap feature saw twenty cars, six lead changes, had three cautions with the last one coming with five circuits to go. Bad boy 18-Terry Belcher Jr. worked his way through the field and relished an easy five-car lead heading into the late race caution. After the track returned to green flag action, cars began to shuffle creating a thriller right down to the checkers. Belcher looking for a little extra moved up on the cushion as 96-John Cox found traction through the middle groove and made a commanding pass and stole the show to finish first past the checkers.
After Cox captured his first modified division main event victory of the season, he celebrated his accomplishment with long time friend 18-Terry Belcher Jr. who finished second. Third place x04-Mike Strobel has had a skillful season, keep an eye on Strobel as he is capable of knocking down a victory. Fourth place and current track point's leader 4tw-Tim Ward continues to string together solid runs. Ward is an accomplished young star in his second season. He has proven that last years success was no fluke and that he belongs in this division.
Rounding out the top five last Saturday was Canyon's 2008 modified champion 09-Jay Foster followed by: (6) 20rt-Rick Thornton Jr; (7) 44-Jason Noll; (8.) 5m-Anthony Madrid; (9) 52-DJ Wood and (10) TC Taylon Center. Modified driver 78-Steve Stultz and 87-Cliffton Maggard earned their first heat race wins of the season while number 96-John Cox also won his heat race.
