Emma gets all my respect. She is so hard-working and intelligent, but seems to be so nice and natural at the same time. Best role model you can have I think :)

@ncjackson1958: The parents did not use the money as it belongs to Emma as far as I know, but like januarsummers already said her parents got divorced when Emma was five and between that and her 16th birthday are 11 years. So her father obviously did not have a lot of money at that time but fortunately he apparaently got over it and earned money after that phase. Just because you are a lawyer does not mean that you have much money. As a lawyer you can be unemployed really fast.

Emma is such a principled young woman and has a very noble character. I don't even know her, but I'm very proud of her.

@ncjackson1958 Get your facts straight. Her parents got divorced when she was five years old. She wasn't in Harry Potter until the age of 9. Of course her parents would be able to pay for her 16th birthday since she was already earning a lot from Order of the Pheonix.

That's strange. Her parents are lawyers..a job like that can earn you tons of money, not to mention they spent around 250,000$ for her 16th birthday for getting straight A's...they don't sound poor to me....
