One of the worst wipeouts ever - Surfing

This is taken from the video "Absolute Mexico". The wave is Puerto Escondido, Mexico, on a huge swell. The surfer is Danielo Couto.
Has to be one of the worst wipeout recorded. It's quite shallow out there, and judging from the shape of the wave when it closes out, I think it's safe to say that it isn't more than 3 feet deep.

The problem isn't so much the wave crashing down on you so much as it is the struggle to get back up for air. Once you get caught in that white water from waves that size you are being thrashed around constantly, often enough you smack against the reef.

yes he had enough speed to goo far down the line but didn realize he was in the shore break and got closed out.. mexico surf can be really clean and perfect but sooner or later beachbreak type waves will close on you. at that size you kick out and live to ride again. even if it was 6 feet deep there I am sure he was bounced several times and probably had sea water leak from his sinuses for a month.
