On April 23, 2009 the sixth Heartland Honor Flight left from Omaha, Nebraska with 380 World War Two veterans headed for Washington D.C. to visit the WW II Memorial.

The day was filled with respect and dignity for all of these Veteran's, Every where they went, from the moment these heartland heros stepped off of the busses, the people walked up and said; "Thank You for your service and our freedom" or as they walked past...just gave a nood and said Thank You. I was honored to be part of three of these seven flight's that took our Nebraska WW II veterans' to see the monument that was built to honor their courage, sacrifice and commitment to this great nation.
