from the 2008 SOBHD
1st is the circle with an alternate break
2nd the scissors or sailor's buckle
3rd look-out
4th run and cable haul
5th rocking
6th is half the inverted toe heel and the second half of the high cutting step.
And for Nankuranaisa101, those are actually some of the most complicated hornpipe steps and as an SDTA qualified teacher, I still find a few of them difficult. The dancers in the video did very well putting the steps together and dancing them.

I've been looking thru all the Youtube versions of Sailor's Hornpipe to find one that looked "right" but after about 20 so-so's I happened to see this one.
It is so well done and with just the right timing and enthusiasm by these girls that it just "clicks". Very well done! I can watch it over and over without getting bored.
Thanks for posting, and thanks to these ladies for showing us how the Sailors' Hornpipe is meant to be danced.

My Scottish roots are calling me home!
I love this dance the rocks is my favorite part. Theres a few steps they did that Ive never seen before but I guess thats cause its scotland its like when I see canadian dancers I get confused cause they have different steps. The name of the dance is sailors hornpipe not the tune many highland dancers are done to multiple different tunes.
