We just read Their Eyes Were Watching God in my Intro To Lit class (shout out to Prof. Mark Whalan who is awesome!!) so I went ahead and saw the movie. I gotta be honest, the movie disappointed me quite a bit. So here's a slightly mocking trailer.
It's my first attempt at a movie trailer so bear with me here.

Please skip this terrible movie and just read the fucking book. Oprah boils the brilliance of Hurston down into a tasteless lifetime movie.

@Candygurl321 yeah ruby dee is in it for like 5 solid minutes. there was no reason to cast such a big name for such a small part.
terrance howard was in it as a semi-big minor role... i don't remember him getting so much attention in the novel, i guess they were tryna work with their awesome bit player lol
