While reviewing the Hyundai Genesis R-Spec for The Smoking Tire, Matt decides to see if the big sedan meets his high standard for hooning. Clearly, the 429 horsepower V8 has no problem vaporizing a set of Bridgestone Potenzas.

  • Hey you should do a review on an Infiniti G37 IPL coupe. I want to see how it compares to a bmw or an audi even though it cost much less!

  • @folza21 I can tell you right now. The G37 is a nice car, but it's not as good to drive or be seen in as the BMW 335i. It also doesn't feel as good as the Audi S4, and isn't as practical.

  • its a very quiet engine....

  • @yoonyong8925 I don't consider just acceleration numbers when I compare whether one car is faster than another. I don't go to the dragstrip often and I don't street race light to light. A Mustang GT would wax the Genesis around a race track or on any canyon road. And I should know. I tested them on the track in the same day.

  • it sounds like its electric because its so quite!!! i like

  • BEAUTIFUL !!!

  • I love both the Genesis sedan and the coupe. But the only thing they share is a platform. They look nothing alike. The coupe deserves its own name.

  • wow

  • WOW,wasn't expecting that kind of smoke show.

  • LSD!! omg one missing link, a 6spd manual gearbox!

  • Of course it's quiet. It's not made to be a performance sedan. I'm sure after some aftermarket exhaust work, it'll sound sweet. Def considering this next. Currently have a 2011 turbo Sonata SE. By the time it's paid off, I'm sure it'll be even sweeter.

  • If only Hyundai decide to put a 5.0 on an new design coupe in the future, I bet their pristage would go up tremindously. I dont really care for current coupe design.

Hyundai was smart by not creating a luxury line to sell these upscale cars during recession.

Also, plz do not follow the current luxury cars' trend by not selling a car with same spect but a different badge(price).

You guys are on my rader, keep up the good work Hyundai.

  • @jutuz i do hear about a v8 gen coupe version that will take on the 5.0 mustang though hopefully its true

  • @TheSmokingTire well sir im not gonna say you are wrong or anything but i was just thinking i thoug the genesis had more traction when it came to sharp turns so at the and now did you race the 2.0 genesis or the v6
