A Continental Express ERJ145XR takes off from Houston's runway 15L on Oct. 5, 2007. Flight was nonstop to PIT. Sorry about the initial shakiness and the window frame in the shot, but my wife was in the window seat and it was difficult to hold the camera steady.

  • it looks like the airplane was trying to race the other one.

  • An empty XR maintains a 5,000 fpm climb, and that's with reduced thrust and a 240kt climb. Basically, full effort, an empty XR would have very easily been looking back at that Gulfstream. Keep in mind that XR probably had 20,000lbs of payload. What'd the Gulfstream have?

  • lol. maybe if the xr was empty we might have seen more of the gulfstream... then again........... i doubt it.

  • Nice video! I love the XRs but that plane on the takeoff roll killed it! Looked like a G3 or G4, but the XRs can definately hold their own!
