@anyamunya - It is usually the LCD or the inverter cable. Unfortunately it could also be either the inverter board or the logic board. The only way to diagnose properly is to replace the components to determine which has gone bad.

So my backlight has been off for a while, i can still see prrfectly through it with bright light, and i did some research. I think its either the bulb or the inverter. I brought my Mac to a Mac repair store, they diagnosed the problem, and apparently the LCD is causing it. But I'm pretty sure my LCD is fine. I think theyre just saying that so they would replace the whole thing, which will cost more.. What do u think? Thanks for your help.

@kikicouture10 - You only measure the diagonal of the screen itself.

Hey, I need to replace my screen I was wondering how do I measure my screen to find out the measurements do I measure the plastic or just the visible screen?
@PowerbookMedic I have a screen that has only 1 of the three colors, can you tell me what's gone wrong? If it helps at all the one color that is showing is blue... the backlight is functional. In addition the hinge has been broken for a fair while and after the hinge broke the screen started losing its colors...

@MatLabPoop - Color issues are usually related to a damaged LVDS cable. It could also be the LCD, but if your hinge broke it is likely that it also damaged your LVDS cable.

@PowerbookMedic is there any way of fixing that?

@MatLabPoop - You'll have to replace the LVDS cable to fix the issue if it is damaged.
