@99theinvertedmoron I'm in agreement with you! Amazing person and a true artist, I used to clear my Tues nights and drive to Studio City, just to see them perform. And every night I was in awe with who else came in as well, and just join in the jam. Truly majical and awesome. I've also known him for years and he's just as amazing person as he is a performer. I love watching him and the band. Just wish I still lived in LA.
@olliebros. Listen, I've seen him and his band perform at LaVaLee in LA so many times, and let me tell you, it's awe inspiring. The things he can do with his "6 string fretless bass", let me just say, will blow you away. Not to mention the onslaught of legends that go there just to jam with him, He IS a genius, an amazing and beautiful person, and I'm proud to say he's my friend, and I'm a huge fan of his. Do me a favor, pay attention, watch, and you'll get it.
@olliebros Marco Mendoza a poser?? You must be out of your mind!!! If you couldnt hear what he was playing blame the FoH guy at the gig. Actually the way he plays Philo's stuff is extremely accurate and respectful to the original. This guy is a genius and extremely versatile. It's actually surprising to find he is so selfless and respectful to the music he plays in each ocassion.
This guy is ridiculous .... Pls listen Bill Withers not this clown !! I saw him with Thin Lizzy last week ...he sounds like shit !! too much low end on his sound , you can't hear one note of what he's playing !!! he's the exact Phil Lynott's opposite
I've seen the trio a few times whilst visiting L.A. Great band! I love their album. Superb arrangements of classic songs. Met Marco a few times and he is a really nice chap indeed. Joey Heredia is one of the best drummers ever. What a groove!
I worked at LaVeLee for a couple of years *1998-1999* and I have to say that watching Marco and the Guys * Joey and Renato* every Tuesday night was one of the BEST times I can remember. Not only is he an AMAZING musician he is a GREAT guy.
They ROCKED that place EVERY Tuesday without fail.
WONDERFUL MEMORIES seeing this Video brings back. Thank you so much boogie for posting it!
When I played with Marco, Ronnie G.,Daniel De Los Reyes, Leslie Paula, Renato Neto, and Mark the guitarist My experience goes back to 1989-90 it was one of my best Musical experiences ever
Years ago my brother and I went to see Marco at Lee Va Lee. My brother is a sax player and Marco asked him to sit in. In the meantime Chaka Khan and her longtime friend and colleague Gavin Christopher came in. During the second set Gavin and Chaka sang and my brother Vastine"Wink" Pettis played alto and it was all magical. Chaka sang her ass off two songs and Gavin one. My bro was pumped, blew everyone out. We did not have to buy anymore drinks that night.
Mendoza nice
