Judge Eleanor Levingston Schockett died on Saturday, January 12, 2008. She was a member of the board of directors of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition. Her particular concerns were the erosion of personal liberties of all our citizens. She believed if the American people learn just how bad things are, they will be changed for the better. She vowed to speak out and appreciated the opportunity.

  • What a sad ending. It must have been hard to have to work within a broken system and be so close to the pain it caused. I hope she takes comfort in knowing her legacy will be freedom, compassion and the rebirth of justice.

    Blessed be.

  • I'm so sorry shes left us. We need intellegent people like her to change the face of freedom. Dont worry judge ..I've joined your fight and i will educate others as i educate myself.

  • I agree with this woman for the most part, but I want to go back to the point she made about, -"this is not a war on drugs, it's a war on people". It was/is a war on people. It was a war on people (who were making bad decisions), for the benefit of all Americans. Was the war on drugs a failure? Was it a bad policy forced on us by our government? Perhaps, but what is never mentioned (thought of) is the economic, social, and "general" prosperity we had during the years of the war on drugs (people)

  • Clearly a very strong woman with a keen intellect. I wish she could have lived to see us rid of this blemish upon society. We need more leaders like her.

  • i hope your resting well god bless you

you were ahead of your time even in 1958

  • This woman is on the dot. Sure shes a little old-school lingo-wise and she may have a bit of a hillbilly accent but she knows her shit... She understands that the right thing to do is help people instead of isolate them. 5 stars

  • I never thought of how the drug laws force the need to use plea bargaining, resulting in criminal records for the innocent and reduced sentences for the truly guilty. What a disaster.

  • very intelligent woman.

  • Drug Policy Reform has lost a courageous hero in Judge Schockett.

So sad that more people weren't as strong as she was while she was on the bench.
