wow that would be so cool to climb to the top of yet spectacularly frightening. think the highest i've ever climbed was about 100 feet which was prety damn scary. but i had no harnes and rope still i think it'd take bals of steel to climb that high

@beeroosterm Anyway, I'm sure they know what they're doing :)
-
@TotalDesignZ They do it by laser triangulation using a technique I cannot recall...dammit...
-
@beeroosterm Yeah, measuring something that's narrow on top and MUCH wider at the bottom and with branches in the way doesn't seem like it would be very accurate. I wonder how they did the laser thing with all the branches in the way.
Bitchin' tree though. Be cool if you could see it FREE standing next to something else (in a pic) for comparison :)

@TotalDesignZ Yes, well, I looked into the matter a little more thoroughly after my post and it turns out that lasers were indeed used in addition to using a measuring tape. However, no mention is made of how they compared...

@beeroosterm Same thing I was thinking...

falling out of trees ah not so good

climbing trees is good for you

It would really suck to get to the very top, and then hear the sound of chainsaws firing up.
Would suck climbing to the top, only to see one bigger lol
