Gospel Days was released in 1987. So he became a christian sometime after 1977 but before 1986. His record label moved to the UK but his parents would not let him follow so there is an eight year gap in Jonathan Butler recordings

I saw Jonathan Butler in concert with Dave Koz and Keiko Matsui two weeks ago, which was the first time I'd ever heard of him. He sang this song in an extended version, and related to how people are going through tough times right now. So truly powerful . . . This song has helped me on a personal issue, reassuring me that God is still in control. What a wonderful individual and performer!
