Oh god thank you, somebody with brain! Ironic that people don't want Zac to play Light because of his Disney links, his teenybopper fans who will ruin the anime scene but then we have serious anime "fans" saying they want him to die, he's gay , all he does is sing and dance. Some ppl don't seem to have the I.Q. to distinguish the ACTOR from CHARACTERS he has played.

Well I have to agree that they DO look a bit alike and he is of proper age for the role but I highly doubt that he could pull off the "craziness" and the infamous Kira lol :P He just isn't that good of an actor to play this role and I hope that the producers realizes this and cast based on acting skills and not looks. Because in the end you can alter look but not the quality of an actor :P

I see Zac's appearance does suit for Kira, it would be cool if he was actually cast, but I'm afraid it would be impossible like those some Twilight fans who primaly think Gaspard Ulliel would be Edward.. and it turned out to be disappointment when it wasn't

you can't adapt Death Note into a 1,5 or 2 hour movie. you just CAN'T, without losing everything that makes D.N. so epic.

Of course, the japanese live action version was way beyond shitty -.- and will be 10x outperformed by a profesionall US version.

Well as far as big budget goes, chances are it would mostly be spent on the actor's paychecks. I doubt Disney would be keen on on having Zac playing a murderous sociopath. And in hindsight, the visual effects would be used on Ryuk and the rest of the Shinigami.

Chances are, this would be an indie movie anyway. I've heard that the people who want to adapt this are the people who adapted the first Ring movie, and that was pretty well done, so I wouldn't be worried knowing it's in good hands.

Oh, that's a good point about Zac.
