Thanks for your kind reply. I didn't think that Noel or Mitch could sing that well. I was playing in band in SF when this song was released by th Beatles in '65 or '66. All local bands then were Beatles and Stones cover bands. We learned "Day Tripper" right away and played it on a gig the week it was released! The crowd went nuts!

Thanks for your comment and it would make sense that a guest vocalist jammed with them, but one source on the net had dispelled the notion of John as being present so I would be very interested in knowing your source[s] for his confirmation being there. It's entirely possible though.

The co-lead usually fell on Redding's shoulders[he sounds present here] and it was once rumoured that John Lennon sat in for this cover[since debunked] but the second back up vocal doesn't sound like John,so I'm thinking Mitch.
