"Washington Square" was a huge instrumental hit for a dixieland group called The Village Stompers who originated in Greenwich Village, NY. The song was named after the famous park in New York City and it peaked at #2 during the fall of 1963 kept out of the #1 spot by Dale & Grace's "I'm Leaving It Up To You".
Being of a some what older vintage I can remember when this fine tune received a lot of air play and at that time on the AM dial..thanks for the posting...

stupendo - poichè quando è uscito io ero un ragazzino che amava e cercava la nuova musica che
stava emergendo - ottimo pezzo da riproporre da d.j. per farlo conoscere alla nuova generazione

This was the first single I ever owned, followed by Sukiyaki, a PP&M EP, and "We'll Reach Heaven Together". Mum sent her child endowment on a record player and 45s for my 13th birthday!
